What’s Differences between 4G Smart Phones and 5G Smart Phones?

People always have many requirements on smart phone configurations, such as CPU processing and camera pixels. Yet, as a communication tool, well telecommunication performance is basic and critical. To achieve the property, the baseband processor works decisively.

Apple is always taking the conservative strategy in the network technology of iPhone. In 2007, the first iPhone was introduced without 3G functions, even though the 3G networks were widely used. Seemingly, iPhone 5 is the first to support LTE in the iPhone series, introduced in September 2012, over 1 year later than the Android-based phones. Therefore, we think Apple will continue to take such strategy for 5G smart phones.

Apple now is choosing the supplier of 5G baseband processors. Surely, Apple will introduce a 5G smart phone, but they may not rush to the first batch. Meanwhile, unlike HUAWEI and the other smart phone brands, there is no regional embargo on iPhone sales. We believe that it will help more people to choose and use 5G phones.

HUAWEI

Leading the 5G standard, HUAWEI is the major supplier of 5G-based devices. In February 2019, HUAWEI has introduced the 5G-based foldable phone at MWC. It is the first 5G smart phone in the world, powered by the chip Balong 5000. As the first 5G multi-mode chipset in the world, Balong 5000 supports 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G on a single chip, effectively reducing power consumption with higher performance. We can say that Balong 5000 is the most powerful chipset for 5G terminals.

This release is not so surprise. In 2018, HUAWEI had unveiled that it would introduce the 5G phone in 2019. Though the newly-released product, HUAWEI P30 doesn’t support 5G, we believe that it will introduce more 5G smart phones in the future.

Samsung

In August 2018, Samsung announced the collaboration with the Korean mobile network operator. They would plan to develop the 5G smart phones but they also indicated it’s not the highly expected Galaxy S10. Yet, some rumors said that this 5G phone would be a special edition in the Galaxy S10 series, different from Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e, and this 5G-based smart phone would be called as Galaxy S10 X. Now, we have to wait for the actual release planning by Samsung.
