Factors Considered in Selecting Computer and Laptop for Editing Videos
1. CPU
CPU is the core of a computer and has a huge effect on performance. The number of processing cores and the speed of CPU determine how fast a computer can finish a video editing task. If the computer you choose doesn’t have a powerful CPU, then it will be very slow when your computer is performing video editing task and it may be frozen.
Generally, the more cores a CPU owns, the more threads it supports and the faster a video image will be shown when editing videos, so you can edit videos faster. 2. Storage Space
Other than CPU, the performance of the storage drive is essential. If you need to edit different types of videos and save them in your computer, then you have to get enough storage space. As for data storage, you can choose either HDD or SSD.

3. Random Access Memory (RAM)
To have enough RAM is also significant for editing videos. To choose the size of a memory depends on how you use it. If you edit 1080P videos frequently, you’d better choose a computer with at least 8GB RAM. If edit 4K videos, then it is suggested to choose a computer with at least 16GB RAM (32GB memory would be better).
4. Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
When you edit videos that are simpler, generally professional GPU is not required, because functions of the previous integrated graphics is enough to complete video edit tasks. If you edit videos with higher resolutions or require 3D modeling, then you will need a professional GPU.
Comparing with normal GPU, the professional GPU is faster and more stable. Especially as for stability, when you are doing 3D modeling, if the GPU is unstable, your computer may crash in the half way.
5. Screen Resolution
Screen resolution is one of the important factors need to be considered when editing videos on the computer. It requires adequate resolution to correctly play and edit videos on the computer. If the screen resolution is lower than the resolution of videos, then the videos shown on the screen will not as clear as they should be, and even they will be failed to play or edit.
For example, computers with 1920*1080 resolutions will be the best choice for editing 1080P videos. If a 1080P video is played and edited on a computer with 1280*720 resolutions, the video will be shown blurry.
