Audio Video Interleaved, known by its initials AVI, is a multimedia container format introduced by Microsoft. As we edit AVI videos, we usually join several videos together. At such situation, you need a user-friendly AVI joiner. In the followings, we will introduce some AVI joiners to you and tell you how to use them.
Part 1. Join/Combine AVI Videos with FFmpeg (Command Line Operation)
The name of FFmpeg is inspired by the MPEG video standards group, together with “FF” for “fast forward”. FFmpeg is a set of open-source programs for recording and converting videos/audios. It is also widely used for basic video editing, such as trimming, joining and rotating. The followings are the steps about how to join/combine AVI video files with FFmpeg.
① Download FFmpeg. If you don’t know how to do, click here for more.
② Open the command prompt window, input [C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i E:video1.avi –f mpeg E:video1.mpg]. In this step, the video files can be converted to MPEG files.
③ Input [copy /b “e:/video1.mpg”+”e:/video2.mpg” “e:/video.mpg”]. In this step, the videos can be joined/combined into one through the copy command.
④ Finally, input [C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i E:/video.mpg -f mp4 E:/video.avi]. This step contains trans-coding and the final video output.

Method 1. Directly Join AVI Video
① Open the software and click [Video Toolbox].
② Click [Add Files] to select the target videos.
③ Check the [Merge all into one] option, then the AVI videos will be combined as one.
④ If you want to add some transitions for the videos, you can click the [No transition] option to select desired video transition.
⑤ The duration of the transition effects can be set. What’s more, if you want to use the same transition to all videos, you can select the [Apply this setting to all videos] option.
⑥ Transition effect in this way:
⑦ Finally, select the output format and the output folder, then click [Start] to save the video.
Method 2. Combine AVI Videos via Video Overlay
Another way is to combine all AVI video files into one screen, namely videos in a video. The effect is in this way:
① First, click [Add Files] to select the AVI video which you want to make it as background.
② Click the [Watermark] tab. Click [Add video watermark] to put one or more AVI videos into one screen.
③ Adjust the size and position of the new added videos, then click [OK] to save your settings.
④ Go back the homepage. Select the output format and the output folder, then click [Start] to save the video.
Part 3. Join/Combine AVI Videos with AVI Joiner
AVI Joiner is a trail version of Windows video editor program, which can be used to join AVI videos. However, it only supports to merge AVI files in simple way. If you want to further edit the AVI video, such as trimming, cropping, adding effects, watermarks and audio files, or if you want to join videos in other formats, the second software mentioned above is better for you.
① Download and install the software. Please download the software from: http://www.brizsoft.com/avijoin/avijoin.zip.
② Open the software and select the target AVI videos.
③ Click [Join Files]. In the following screen, select the output path and set the file name, and then click the [Join] button. Now, the videos have been joined.
