How Many Kinds of User Accounts Are There in Windows 10?
There are two kinds of user accounts in Windows 10. One is the local account and the other one is Microsoft account. Local account means that it’s only available in one computer and each computer has its own local account. However, if you use Microsoft account, you can access different computers and sync your account data to this computer.
How to Set or Change Windows 10 Password?
Because you can sign in with a Microsoft account or a local account, it’s suggested to confirm which type of user account you currently use before you set or change password. Option One: Set or Change Local Account Password in Windows 10
① Press Windows logo + I key together to open “Windows Settings” and then click on “Accounts”.
② Please click on “Sign-in options” on the left side. And then scroll down to “Password”. Click on “Add” or “Change”.
③ If you want to change the password, please enter the current password and click “Next”. And then enter the new password, click on “Next”. Finally, click “Finish”. If you add a password, just enter the new password.
④ Please enter the new password next time when you sign in Windows 10.

Option Two: Set or Change Microsoft Account Password
① Press Windows logo + I key together to open “Windows Settings” and then click on “Accounts”. On the right side, scroll down to “Password”.
② Click on “Change”, enter the current Microsoft account password and click on “Sign in”.
③ If your account needs to be verified, please select the verification way and enter the code you receive. And then click “Next”.
④ Enter the old and new Microsoft account password and click “Next”. Finally, click “Finish” and the password will be changed successfully.
Option Three: Set or Change PIN
① Press Windows logo + I key to open “Windows Settings” and then click “Accounts”. On the right side, scroll down to “PIN”.
② Click on “Add” and verify your account password. And then set up a PIN.
Tips: If PIN needs to be changed, please click “Change”. And then type in old PIN and new PIN. Finally, click “OK”.
Option Four: Set or Change Picture Password
① Press Windows logo + I key to open “Windows Settings” and then click “Accounts”. On the right side, scroll down to “Picture password”.
② Click “Add” and verify your account. Click “Choose picture” and then choose one picture from your file to be the password.
③ Click on “Use this picture” or “Choose new picture”. And you can also drag your picture to change its position.
④ Draw three gestures on your picture. And then confirm your gestures.
⑤ When you successfully create your picture password, click “Finish”.
