Method 1: Modify System Version Number

If the backup of the iPhone version is too low, it may not be recovered to the latest version. Of course, it is easy to solve the problem. You can modify the system version number of the iPhone backup file. Here are the steps:

1. Navigate to the iPhone backup file. Generally, the file is saved in the disk by default, namely “C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup”.

2. Open the folder and find out the info.plist file. Then, open the file with notepad.

3. Press the keys [Ctrl + F] to search [<key>Product Version</key>]. Next to this words, modify the numbers in [<string>X.X.X</string>]. For example, the new iPhone is iOS 11.2 while you back up the iOS 11.0.3 iPhone. You can modify the numbers to be 11.2.

4. Finally, continue to recover the backup to iPhone.

Method 2: Deleted Corrupted/Incompatible Backup

If some of the iPhone backup is corrupted or incompatible with the new iPhone, you can follow these steps to delete the file.

1. Navigate to the backup file and copy to the desktop.

Windows: C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Mac: ~/AppData/Library/ApplicationSupport/MobileSync/Backup/

2. In Windows, run iTunes and click on [Edit] – [Preferences]; in Mac, open iTunes and select [Preferences].

3. In the tab [Devices], select the backups and click on [Delete Backup] to delete.

4. Copy the backup file on the desktop and then move to the original folder. Restart iTunes to recover the backup.
