In general, resetting iPhone can resolve the majority failures. However, after reset, your iPhone will be back to factory condition and all data will be erased.
Take iPhone X as an example.
1. Update iTunes to the latest version and then exit iTunes.
2. Successively press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. And then, hold the Power button until the indication of the shutdown of the device is displayed. Then switch off the device. Hold the Volume Down button again and connect the device to the computer until you reach the recovery mode.
3. In iTunes, select iPhone. And then, click [Restore iPhone] on the pop up window.
4. Wait for the recovery mode finished.
Method 5: DFU mode
DFU mode and recovery mode are used to reset the device. Recovery mode allows users to restore and update firmware. When users access to recovery mode, the device will display iTunes and the data cable icon on iPhone, while DFU mode is used to forcibly update and downgrade firmware. In the DFU mode, the iPhone will be black in the whole restoring process.
Here we take iPhone X as an example to restore with DFU mode:
Step 1: Turn off iPhone X and connect it to the computer with USB cable. Launch the latest version of iTunes.
Step 2: Hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons at the same time. And then, hold the Power button for 10 seconds. If the iPhone screen is still black, it means your iPhone X is entering DFU mode. Then please release the buttons.
Note: During this process, if the Apple logo appears on the iPhone X screen, it means that you hold the buttons for too long. After turning off the device, go through the above steps again. In addition, after entering DFU mode, a window will pop up on iTunes. Then click on [Restore iPhone] to choose the firmware and reset the iPhone.
