Part 1: What is iTunes Playlist?

iTunes playlist is a custom compilation of songs and videos. Users can customize the list of music, TV programs, books, ringtones and videos. These iTunes playlists can be themed as genres, music styles and show styles. Next, we will show you how to create a playlist for iPhone with iTunes.

It is very easy to create playlists in iTunes. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer. Open iTunes and select [Music] at the left pane. If you want to create the other kinds of playlist, select the other categories in iTunes.

Step 2: Click [File] – [Playlist]. Or, press the hot keys [Ctrl + N] to create a new playlist.

Step 3: After that, the new playlist will be shown when you click on [Music Playlists] at the left pane. You can click on the location of the playlist name to change a new name.

1. Add Items into Playlist

If you want to add music into the new playlist, you can drag the songs from the local folders into the playlist.

Also, you can click on [Library] – [Songs] (or, [Device] – [Music]), and then select the target songs and right click at them to select the target playlist after expanding the option [Add to playlist].

After that, you will see these songs have been in the playlist.

TipsBefore enjoying the playlist, you can set the play mode, such as [Shuffle] or [Play] by right clicking at the name of the playlist.

2. Remove Items from Playlist

Removing items from an iTunes playlist is very simple, too. Select the target song and click on […]. Then, click on [Delete]. But, the song will not be shown in iTunes if you select [Remove from Library].

If you want to delete songs in batch, press the Shift key while selecting the songs. Then, press the Delete key to delete them.

3. Sort Playlist

If you want to change the order of the songs in the playlist, just drag them to adjust the order.

TipsThe iTunes playlists are ordered from numbers to letters. If you want to move a playlist to the top, you can add [1] at the beginning of the playlist name.

If you want to delete the unnecessary iTunes playlists, you can right click on this playlist at the left pane and select [Remove from Library]. Or, click on [...] in the right corner of the playlist and select [Remove from Library].
