Part 1: About iCloud Backup

In the past, Apple users could only connect their iPhone to the computer and back up with iTunes. iCould has been promoted with the released of iOS 5. Each iCloud account has free 5 GB storage. Users can pay for more space which is up to 2 TB storage.

● Check if there is enough free storage space on iCloud.

Part 2: Restore Lost Files from iCloud Backup

1. Restore iCloud Backup to iPhone

Before restoring data from iCloud, you need to reset iPhone which will erase all data from iPhone. You just need to do it in iPhone settings. And after, you can skip the steps to restore data from iCloud backup.

1. Go to [Settings], [General] and [Reset]. Then touch [Erase All Data and Settings].

2. In the displayed window, tap [Clear now].

3. Follow the instructions and access the “Apps and data” interface.

4. And then, press [Restore from iCloud]. Login iCloud with your Apple ID.

5. Finally wait for the restoration from the iCloud backup.

2. Recover Files from iCloud.com

If the iPhone is lost or damaged, you can recover the data by visiting the icloud.com on computer.

Steps:

1. Open the browser on the computer. And then type the site https://www.icloud.com/. Then type the Apple ID and password.

2. Click [Settings].

3. In the page displayed, find and click the options under [Advanced].

TipsNote: If you’ve deleted iCloud backup files for the past 30 days, you can restore them to the [Recently Deleted] folder on iCloud.

Part 3: Recover Files from iTunes Backup

Besides iCloud, iTunes is often used to back up data. Unlike the iCloud backup, the iTunes backup is not affected by the network. The speed of backup and restore will be faster as well. If you also have iTunes backup, you can try to restore iPhone files from iTunes backup.

Steps:

1. Connect iPhone to PC with USB cable. If you are using Mac computer with Mac OS Catalina 10.15, please go to [Finder]. If you are using Mac PC with Mac OS Mojave 10.14 even lower version or Windows PC, please go to iTunes directly.

2. Connect your iPhone / iPad to PC with USB cable.

3. Click [Restore Backup] after clicking the phone-like icon in iTunes.

4. Check the date of each backup and select the backup you want to restore. Click [Restore] and wait for the restoration finish. Please enter the password if you set the password when you create the backup.

5. Please restart the device and wait for the restoration finish. After that, please disconnect the device from computer.

iCloud and iTunes allow you to restore deleted files. However, they can only perform the full backup. You cannot choose files to restore. Following will introduce other iPhone data recovery methods which will be convenience.
