While the video is playing, you have the option to adjust the playback speed, either increasing or decreasing it. 1. Use Windows Media Player to change playback speed

In Windows Media Player, adjusting the playback speed will either slow down or speed up the video and audio without altering the pitch of the original track. To accelerate a downloaded movie or TV show on your computer, you can utilize the features in Windows Media Player. This program is included in most Windows devices and is available for free. Changing the playback speed in Windows Media Player is a simple process.

The steps are as follows:

① First, you need to play the video in Windows Media Player software. You can click (Media Library) > (Video) in Windows Media Player to view all video files saved in the computer, double-click to open the video.

② To adjust the playback speed of the video, simply right-click on the video screen and select (Enhanced Functions) > (Playback Speed Settings). In the resulting window, you can easily modify the speed by sliding the bar. A value of “1″ represents normal playback speed, while moving left will slow it down and moving right will speed it up. You have the ability to adjust the speed up to 16 times faster or slower. Once selected, the video will instantly play at the chosen speed.

If you’re using a Mac computer, you have to mention QuickTime Video Player, a free application built into the Mac operating system. It supports playing video files such as MOV, MP4, AVI and MPEG-1. To play the video at a faster speed, open it in QuickTime player and click the double arrow button next to the play button. You can choose to play the video at 2, 4, or 8 times the normal speed. If 2 times is too fast, hold down the Option key and click the double arrow button to increase the speed by 0.1 times instead.

Note: After clicking the (double arrow button) on the left of the play button, the player will play at the double speed you selected to play the video in reverse.

3. Change playback speed with VLC media player

VLC media player offers a simple solution for adjusting the playback speed of any multimedia file. It’s important to note that the speed you change only applies to the current video. This means that when you close and reopen the video, it will resume at its original speed. Open the VLC media player software and the video file, click (play) > (speed) in the upper menu bar, and then you can see the following options: “faster”, “faster (fine-tuning)”, “normal speed”, “Slower (fine-tuning)”, “Slower”. Select one of these options to speed up or slow down video playback.
