Part 2: Figure out “USB device not recognized”

Method 1: Check Connection between USB Devices and Ports or Replace Cable

If the USB port are not working, USB flash drive or USB splitter will fail to work as a result. If so, please try the 2 methods below:

1. Restart computer and connect the USB device to USB port again.

Please check the recognition and reading of your device after restarting computer and connecting the USB device.

2. Replace USB Cable.

If the computer still fails to find devices like USB disk and SD card, please connect the device to computer with another new USB cable.

Method 2: Device Manager

1. Try “Scan for hardware changes” function in Device Manager

① Step 1: Right-click the Start menu and then [Run].

Step 3: Find and click [Computer] in Device Manager. Select [Scan for hardware changes] in the menu.

2. Disable and then Enable USB Controller

Step 1: After accessing [Device Manager] by following the steps above, find and double-click [USB Serial Bus controllers].

Step 3: Restart computer and Windows will reinstall related USB controllers automatically. After that, please check the status of your USB devices. Following methods could help if the problem still exists.

Method 3: Try USB selective suspend setting

The USB selective suspend feature, a power management function, will suspend the power supply for the USB devices which are not activated and reduce overall power consumption. Although USB selective suspend feature can help battery of laptop and tablet gets a longer lifespan, it may make you impossible to use your USB devices. Disabling this function may help when you encounter such situations.

Step 1: Right-click at the Start menu and search [Control Panel].

Step 4: In the pop-up window, please expand [USB settings] >[USB selective suspend setting]. Click and change the USB selective suspend settings to [Disabled] and confirm with [OK].
