In the following, detailed steps about how to cut and join videos with video cutter and joinerwill be introduced.

How to Cut and Join Videos?

Method 1: Use FFmpeg to Cut and Join Videos (Command Prompt)

FFmpeg is a free computer open source software which runs through command prompt. You can use it to simply cut, rotate and join videos. Here are the steps of cutting and joining videos with FFmpeg:

Cut videos:

① Download FFmpeg to you computer. Please click to learn about the download process of FFmpeg.

② Open the command window, and enter [C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -ss 00:00:03 -t 00:00:04 -i E:Renee.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy E:MP4\Renee.mp4] to cut the video.

Note: The ffmpeg.exe path should be first; -ss follows the start time; -t is followed by the video duration you need; -i is after with the folder path, name and the format of the video; -vcodec copy -acodec copy means the original video and PCM; the saved path, name and format of the cut video should be at last.

Join videos:

① Open the command prompt window, then enter these commands. First, enter [C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i E:Renee1.mp4 –f mpeg E:Renee1.mpg] to transfer the videos into MPEG format one by one; then enter [copy /b “e:/ Renee1.mpg”+”e:/ Renee2.mpg” “e:/ Renee.mpg”] to join all videos into one; finally, enter [C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i E:/ Renee.mpg -f mp4 E:/ Renee.mp4] to output the video into MP4 or other formats.

If you don’t grasp well in command prompt or you want to make your videos more attractive, such as adding transition effects, background music, subtitle and watermark, please go to method 2.

Cut and join videos:

① Open Renee Video Editor Pro and select [Video Toolbox].

② Click [Add Files] to select target video (you can also select one or more videos and cut each video orderly).

③ Select [Cut], and then drag the progress bar or set the specific time to cut the video.

④ Repeat Step 2 to cut all targeted videos.

⑤ Select [Merge all files into one] to join these videos clips.

⑥ You can add some transition effects like it:

⑦ Click [No transition] after the video you want to add transition for; then you can select a transition effect and set the duration time.

⑧ If you want to apply the transition effect betwen all videos, select [Apply this setting to all videos].

⑨ Finally, select the output format and the folder path, and click [Start] to save your edited video.

Apart from what have mentioned above, you can also use Renee Video Editor Pro to add [Effect], [Music], [Watermark] and [Subtitle] if you like.
