VLC (VLC Media Player) is a free, open-source media player and multi-media framework developed by the VideoLAN project. VLC is a multi-functional player. It supports many audio and video compression methods and file formats, DVD, VCD and streaming protocols included. Although VLC supports many video formats, it may not work occasionally. For example, VLC can not play M2TS videos. At such situation, you have two solutions, one is to play the video with another media player, another is to convert the video format with VLC. Part 1. Convert MKV to MP4 with VLC
① Download and open VLC media player; click at the top-left [Media] > [Convert/Save].
② In the following screen, click [Add] to select the target MKV video; then click on the [Convert/Save] button at the bottom corner of the interface to proceed.
③ In the opening screen, click the [Profile] from drop-down menu and select the [MP4] option as your output format. After that, select the storage position in [Destination file]. Finally, click on the [Start] button at the bottom to start conversion.
