Webcam is the common device used to make video call and record video in our daily life. In this essay, we will introduce some hot webcam recorders and show you how to use them.
Webcam, fully known as web camera, is the digital camera connected to the computer. There are two kinds of webcam, internal webcam and external webcam. The internal webcam is usually centered at the upper side of the monitor and the external webcam is connected to the computer through USB. The position of the internal one is fixed while the external one can be placed freely. Now, many desktop computers and laptops are equipped with the internal webcam and microphone. You can also install a webcam if the computer doesn’t have.

Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and get into [Screen Recorder].
② Before recording the screen, set the options in [Target], [Audio] and [Output].
- Target: User can select to record whole screen or define the area you want to record.
- Audio: Refers to the source of sound like microphone, computer or both.
- Output: Location to save the record.
③ Click at the gear icon at the lower right corner, and then set the output format, quality, resolution, frame rate, cursor effect and watermark.
④ After that, return to the last interface. Click on [Record] to begin recording screen. During the process, click on [Pause] to suspend recording or [Stop] to end up recording and save the recorded video.
TipsIn addition, Renee Screen Recorder also provides the functions of auto schedule recording. Click on the button at the lower right corner. Then, set the options of the auto recording schedule, such as the specific start and end time and the recording target. Then when it reach the time you have set, the software will start to record the screen automatically.
In Windows, Camera is the pre-installed application used to record webcam. But this free application can merely record video and take photos. The professional mode supports us to capture the 4K videos and images, and record videos smoothly. However, we cannot edit videos with this app.

Steps:
① Click at the windows icon in the task bar and then find out [Camera].
② After that, click at the record icon to begin and stop recording. Then, the recorded video will be saved in the default folder. Of course, the file destination can be modified. Click the settings icon at the upper left corner to adjust resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate.
For Mac users, QuickTime Player is a good webcam recorder because it is free and easy to use. It can not only record webcam contents, but also edit and share the videos. What’s more, it can record screen.

Steps:
① Open Finder and turn on QuickTime Player. Then, select [File] > [New Movie Recording].
② Click on [Options] to choose the recording options one by one:
- Camera: Choose a camera if you have more than one camera available.
- Microphone: Choose a microphone if you have more than one microphone available.
- Quality: Choose the recording quality. Maximum-quality recordings produce uncompressed files, which can use large amounts of storage space.
③ Next, adjust the volume and click the record button to begin recording. After that, click the stop button when we finish recording. To suspend recording, click the Record button and click it again to resume recording. Finally, select [File] > [Save] to save and name the recorded video.
VLC Media Player is the free, open-source cross-platform multimedia player which can play most of multimedia files, DVD, CD, VCD and various streaming media protocols. It is totally free to use VLC Media Player to record webcam contents. Moreover, it is safe, free from advertisement. It can also convert video and audio formats.
Supported operating systems: Windows, MacOS
Steps:
① Install and open VLC Media Player. Open [Media] > [Open Capture Device].
② In the following window, select [DirectShow] in [Capture mode]. Then, select the targets in [Video device name] and [Audio device name], or just use the default options. Finally, click on [Play] to record webcam contents.
If you don’t want to install any webcam recorder, you can try the online services. But the online recorder is not suitable for the long video.
Video Recorder is the free webcam recorder. We can record the video through the stable network connection and web browser. Through the online service, we can also take photo and complete long video recording. Before recording, we can adjust the video parameter, such as the video quality, mirror mode, microphone volume and the recording area. Besides, we can adjust the video volume and reduce the echo effect.

1. Cut
If you want to remove the unwanted part from a video, you can cut the video with Renee Video Editor Pro.
Step:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and select [Video Toolbox].
② Then, click on [Add Files] to select the target video.
③ Move the sliders to set the start and end time to cut the video.
2. Merge Videos
We can use Renee Video Editor Pro to combine several videos into one even though they are not in the same format.
Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and then select [Video Toolbox].
② Click on [Add Files] to select the target videos. Check the option [Merge all files into one].
Optional operation: We can add some transitions between the videos by clicking at the [+] icon next to [No transition].
③ Finally, select the output format and click on [Start] to save the combined video.
3. Crop/Flip/Rotate Video
Steps:
① Open the software and click [Video Toolbox] – [Add Files] to select the target video.
② Get into [Rotate & Crop]. Then, select to rotate and flip the video screen. Besides, manually adjust the crop area.
4. Add Special Effects
Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and select [Video Toolbox].
② Click on [Add Files] to select the video.
③ Get into [Effect] and then select [Add Filter], [Add Zoom Effect] and [Add Audio Effect].
5. Add Watermark
Sometimes, we want to add the watermark in order to protect the video from being copied.
Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and select [Video Toolbox].
② Click on [Add Files] to select the video.
③ Get into [Watermark] and then select to add text/image/video/shape watermark, or remove the unwanted watermark.
6. Add Background Music
Adding background music can emphasize the video theme well.
Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and select [Video Toolbox].
② Click on [Add Files] to select the target video.
③ Get into [Music] and then select to add audios and voice over the video, or reset the operations. Besides, check the option to remove the original sounds from the video.
7. Add Subtitles
Steps:
① Download and install Renee Video Editor Pro. Open the software and select [Video Toolbox].
② Click on [Add Files] to select the target video.
③ Get into [Subtitle] and then click at the [+] icon to load the subtitle file and create the file.
④ If you select the option [Create Subtitle File], you can modify the start and end time of each subtitle, and then edit the subtitles well. Finally, adjust the subtitle color, font style and the subtitle position.
