How to Optimize YouTube Video Resolution

In YouTube, HD videos have a better viewing experience and search recommendation. When uploading videos to YouTube, you should pay attention to the following format specifications:

Video resolution: When uploading YouTube HD video, you should choose the highest resolution video in order to have the most flexibility during the process of encoding and playing.
For the video for rental and for sale, you should provide a minimum resolution of 1920 X 1080 and an aspect ratio of 16:9.
For free content or content supported by advertisements, YouTube sets no minimum limit of resolution. However, the suggested minimum resolution of a video with an aspect ratio of 16:9 should be 1280 X 720; the minimum resolution of a video with an aspect ratio of 4:3 should be 640 X 480.

YouTube will automatically make you a video with a resolution that is one level lower, so, please be sure to upload the highest resolution version. If the video is uploaded at standard-resolution, then it cannot choose HD setting when watching.

① Select a video file, right click and select “Properties”.
