Youtube Videos Not Working? Solutions to Solve It!

YouTube, the globally hottest video website, reaches to 30 million visits every day. Many people usually watch music videos, movies and news on YouTube. You have to have JavaScript enabled in order to watch YouTube videos. To check if it’s turned on, please follow steps below.

Steps:

1.  Click the icon in the top-right corner of the browser and select [Settings].
2. Go to [Advanced] tap and then select [Site settings] under [Privacy and security].
3. Click on the [JavaScript] option and enable [Allowed(default)].
4. Once you’ve done that, go back to the YouTube video you want to watch and refresh the page to see if you’ve solved the problem.

Too many cache and cookies may cause YouTube videos fail to play. So try to clear the cache and cookies in your browser, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari.

Solutions: Clear cache and cookies.

① Click the icon at the top-right to expand the menu; select [Settings] then click [Advanced] at the bottom.

② In the menu [Privacy and security], select [Clear browsing data]. Set [All time] in [Time range] and check [Browsing history], [Cookies and other site data] and [Cache images and files]. These items can clear all history records.

It is noted that you cannot play any YouTube videos if you haven’t installed Adobe Flash Player. You should ensure it has been installed on your computer.

Solution: Adobe Flash Player has been pre-installed in Google Chrome. If the update notification pops up when the video is playing, update to the latest version which is smoother and more stable than the outdated one.

As for the other browser, please ensure the Flash extension has been added.

Sometimes, your firewall may barrier YouTube. The firewall mainly protect the network security and control the transmission flow. So the third-party firewall, such as Comodo or McAfee, may cause YouTube not working.

Solution: If you have installed a third-party firewall, try to stop it and reload the browser again. If YouTube can work again, you can uninstall that firewall or put YouTube in the trusted list.

Besides, the computer can go wrong for the incursion by malicious software, which causes YouTube video not working, too. It is suggested that you use a antivirus program to scan your computer for security.

In YouTube, 4K videos are uploaded via VP9 video codec. If the browser does not support VP9, you cannot watch the video. As the most efficient video codec, VP9 has been used in many browsers, a few browser, such as Safari excluded. So 4K videos cannot work in Safari.

Solution: It is suggest you switch to a browser supporting VP9, such as Google Chrome.
